Bereavement Ministry

As evidenced by our Lord's frequent use of the meal as a location of teaching and transformation, dining is a big part of the Christian life. The women and men parishioners of Prince of Peace offer their skills at hospitality to provide small receptions following funerals. Prince of Peace has provided refreshment following funeral and memorial services for many years. Many of us have observed the comfort, love, and healing taking place while sharing food and drink. Food itself is a comfort and coming together as a community to support each other, remembering the departed, and sharing memories with grieving families and friends is one of the ways to care for the grieving families.

Volunteering to serve our church family in the Bereavement Ministry is a very rewarding calling. The families are so appreciative to have a place to celebrate and share memories of a loved one’s life. It is also a way of showing we (the church) care and want to offer comfort in the way of hospitality and food. Pray for discernment and ask our Lord to guide you in this decision.
