ENCOUNTER CHRIST
In the Gospel, Jesus’ zeal, his intense love, compels him to fiercely protect the temple, his Father’s house. The “temple” and “house” which he defends are titles for God’s dwelling place on earth, for Christ’s body, and the Christian community. As Jesus’ zeal would lead to the destruction of his “temple”, his body, before his eventual and eternal triumph, we must be willing to sacrifice ourselves so that he may raise us up. We are called to zealously protect the temple, not only the physical dwelling of the Lord but our Christian community and the faith of the church.
