Jesus tells us he will judge us by our treatment of him in our fellow humans. In the Gospel, Jesus identifies himself as the "least" of people to teach us: the care we give to the poor and suffering is the care we give to him. When we do not practice sacrificial love for others, we hinder Jesus’ kingdom. When we sacrifice and practice the corporal works of mercy, Jesus is king of our lives; we participate in bringing about his kingdom.
