8.16.20 • Pity

by Prince of Peace

In this Sunday’s gospel, the Canaanite woman humbles herself; she begs and asks for pity, in front of people that she knew didn't like her, and places her daughter's life and her own pride in Jesus' hands. When she opens her soul to God, displaying her own weaknesses without worrying of what others will think, Jesus finally shows pity. The more we open ourselves up and humble ourselves, the more our faith grows. Let us put our pride, our hearts, and everything in God's hands, and let us beg with confidence in God’s everlasting mercy, “Lord, have pity on me.”
