Blog: Are Catholics Christian?

Are Catholics Christian?

Well of course we are. Were Catholics always Christian? Well, in that we are believers in and followers of Christ; yes we have always been Christians. But we have not always been called ‘Christian’. In fact, in the beginning, we were Jews. Jesus was Jewish. He attended Synagogue, He preached in Synagogues, He studied and taught the ancient scriptures. Jesus was most definitely Jewish. In fact, the teachings of Jesus can be found in the Old Testament. {“Therefore, you shall love the LORD, your God, with your whole heart, and with your whole being, and with your whole strength.” DT 6:5 “He said to him, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” Mt 22:37}
So who were we in the beginning, the very beginning? We were a people, Jews & Gentiles.
Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” In the very beginning we were a people following along ‘The Way’ -and The Way is Jesus the Christ!
